In celebration of Black History Month, I’m giving away copies of two of my favorite comics on the Journey Into Awesome Facebook page! First up is a new hardcover copy of Captain America: Truth (originally published as Truth: Red, White & Black) by Robert Morales (Captain America) and Kyle Baker (Why I Hate Saturn).
A blatant reference to the horrific real world Tuskegee Study, Truth is the tragic tale of a group of African American soldiers involuntarily subjected to an experimental version of the Super-Soldier Serum by the U.S. government. (For more on the Tuskegee Study, check out Racism and Research: The Case of the Tuskegee Syphilis Study.)
There are two ways to enter the sweepstakes:
- Comment with the name or image of your favorite black superhero on this Facebook post for one entry.
- Like the post for an additional entry.
The winner will be randomly selected on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 8:00pm EST and announced via Facebook. The winner have one week to message the Journey Into Awesome Facebook Page with their mailing address in order to receive their prize. If after one week the winner has failed to provide a valid mailing address, another winner will be selected.
This promotion is open to those 18 and above in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia. Void where prohibited.
